About Me
Hernando Duarte serves as the Statewide Bilingual Farm Labor Outreach Specialist with the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension. In this role, he supports Wisconsin dairy farmers and other agricultural producers by developing and delivering educational programs that promote research-based guidance on labor management and human resource practices to help farms build strong, sustainable teams. Hernando has a background in business administration and more than 22 years of experience in Wisconsin’s dairy industry. He began his career as a bilingual cattle reproduction specialist, where he developed a deep understanding of the workforce challenges that farm businesses face, including recruitment, training, and employee retention. This experience led him to establish an independent consulting firm, where he supported farm managers in applying best practices in labor management, human resources, and communication. In his role with Extension, Hernando will build on this foundation by collaborating with partner organizations and community members to develop and deliver educational programs for dairy and other labor-intensive agricultural industries across Wisconsin.
