About Me
Chris Gerlach serves as Vice President of Insights & Analytics at the U.S. Apple Association (USApple), the national trade organization representing America's apple growers, packers, marketers, and processors. Promoted to this role in July 2024, he leads the generation of critical industry data, including state-specific economic impact reports, monthly storage inventories (Market News), production forecasts, and trade analyses that inform policy, lobbying, and business decisions across the $ multi-billion U.S. apple sector. Gerlach joined USApple in July 2020 as Director of Industry Analytics, quickly becoming known for transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable visuals and insights—such as proprietary reports, webinars, and the Newton Database—that help members navigate market trends, variety shifts, and challenges like oversupply or trade disruptions. His work supports everything from USDA purchases for school programs to advocacy on Capitol Hill. Prior to USApple, Gerlach was Director of Research at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), where he produced economic studies on the retail real estate industry. Earlier roles included consulting on economic impact models for public-sector projects and analysis at CoStar Group. He holds a Master of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from the George Washington University School of Business.
