About Me
Fatma Ezzahra Besbes is a PhD student co-advised between Christelle Guedot and Leslie Holland at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research examines the role of social wasps in vineyards, with a focus on how yellowjackets interact with grapes and influence the spread of cluster rot pathogens. She combines field experiments, microbial analyses, and behavioral assays to clarify when wasps contribute to fruit damage and when they simply exploit already-compromised berries. Fatma works closely with Wisconsin growers and extension teams to translate her findings into practical, sustainable management strategies.
