About Me
Dr. Suzanne Slack is an Assistant Professor and Fruit Crops Extension Specialist at Iowa State University, where she leads a statewide program supporting apple, berry, and grape growers. Her applied research focuses on cultivar and rootstock evaluation, disease management, and innovative production systems such as controlled environments, agrivoltaics, and alternative substrates for specialty crops. She also works closely with growers on improving sustainability, profitability, and resilience in fruit and orchard systems. Dr. Slack is committed to translating research into practical, grower-ready recommendations and strengthening the regional fruit industry through Extension education, on-farm collaboration, and student training.
