About Me
Professor Deller is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Community Economic Development Specialist within the UW-Madison Extension. His work is in the broad area of community economic development with a focus on smaller communities and rural areas. He co-authored the textbook Community Economics: Linking Theory and Practices and has co-edited five books, each focusing on community, rural and regional economic development. The most recent is entitled Local Food Systems and Community Economic Development.

The State of Wisconsin Economy: Past Patterns, Current Status and Future Directions

DESCRIPTION: In order to better understand the state of the Wisconsin economy, Professor Deller will review broad historical economic trends of the nation and Wisconsin. Particular attention will be paid to the performance of the Wisconsin economy just prior to the Great Recession and how the economy has recovered. In addition, he will highlight strengths and weaknesses of the Wisconsin economy and how those may influence future directions.
