About Me
Ellie Butz became involved with the wine industry in 1979 as a microbiologist producing the first American freeze dried malolactic bacterial culture, LeucoStart. For the next 25 years she was employed with Mississippi State and then Purdue University as Enology Specialist for the growing eastern US wine industry. Ellie & Dr. Richard Vine ran the Indy International Wine Competition which became the largest in the US in 2005. She received the ASEV Award of Merit in 2010 and has worked for Lallemand as a technical rep at US wine trade shows since 2010.
