About Me
I am a professor at Cornell University with a strong interest in how plants can be used to improve the well-being of Earth and its inhabitants. From serving on a board of directors for the local nature center and Museum of the Earth, to teaching classes in horticulture, to conducting research on fruit crop production, to cultivating the gardens around my home, my passion is plants and people. My goal as a professor with a teaching, extension and research responsibilities is to seamlessly integrate these three activities into one program that is scholarly, credible and relevant to the multiple audiences that benefit from my program. One of my goals is to be a good communicator with many different audiences. I intentionally seek out audiences that range in age from preschool to adult, and range in expertise from novice to professional, and try to engage with them in a meaningful way. I also strive to be broadly informed about the many issues that affect the food system so I can be a useful resource.
